This event was also the beginning of N Division, later responsible for police administration in the North.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Royal Canadian Mounted Police. N Division : In March 1905, troops of "G" division posted at the Athabasca outpost with reinforcements from Ft. Saskatchewan were broken off to create a new "N" division to police Northern Alberta and areas of the Northwest Territories around the Peace, Athabasca and Mackenzie Rivers. In 1919, the "N" division was folded back into the "G" division. When the RCMP was created in 1920, a new "N" division was created to be the mounted contingent of the Eastern Ontario district (the "A" division was unmounted). Through the 1930s, the "N" division provided training to other divisions in Eastern Canada. In 1939, it ceased to be an operational division and officially became a second training division, in addition to the Depot in Regina.
