Records were created and/or maintained by areas reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of Industrial Policies. These include the Office of the Industrial Policy Adviser, the Policy Analysis Branch, the Economic Analysis Branch, the Energy Group (later Energy and Special Assignments), and the Office of Science and Technology as well as their respective successors and predecessors. These areas were generally responsible for developing and evaluating ITC policies and programs as well as formulating the department's position on a variety of external issues such as taxation, labour, or consumer laws.
Subjects include industrial/economic policy development, the development of economic projection models, regional economic development, energy and natural resources as it relates to the economy, analysis of government-wide policies, and international issues.
