These files were assigned the 8200 and 8300 block within the Transport Central registry and some of the records were brought forward from the old registries of the Department of Marine and Fisheries. Subjects include, but are not limited to, pollution, ice-breaking, bridges and trestles, Board of Steamship inspection, enforcement of the Navigable Waters Act, rifle ranges, buildings and works, bridges, water surveys, and water obstructions.
Also included within the sub-series are plans and drawings extracted from Navigable Waters Protection Act files. These items deal with the installation and building of piers, retaining walls, bridges, tunnels cables, power lines, floats and sewers, the removal of sand and gravel, and with dumping and log chutes in or on navigable waters. These plans and drawings were pulled after the files were microfilmed, verified and destroyed in accordance with submission #M-3-76.
RG12M 88939 was transferred in 1978 to the Government Archives Division, and subsequently transferred to the Cartographic and Architectural Division in Oct. 1988.
