Dept. of Justice. Natural Resources Canada Legal Services Unit : The Natural Resources Canada Legal Services Unit is part of the Business and Regulatory Law Portfolio. The portfolio comprises the office of the Assistant Deputy Minister and around twenty Legal Services Units providing on-site legal services to government clients whose mandates have in common a strong regulatory, public safety, or business law component.
The Natural Resources Canada Legal Services Unit provides on-site legal services to the department. Senior lawyers in the Legal Services Unit participate in client departmental executive and management committees by providing advice on policies and programs as they evolve, and by taking an active part in helping clients shape policy and reach decisions. Since 1995, the Department of Justice's provision of legal services to clients has been based on a portfolio management structure.
