Support 26.000 x 41.300 cmScope and content:Subject depicts a military encampment in a landscape setting. A wide open green field with a small lake is where the 53rd regiment has set up camp. Their tents are aligned along the shore of the body of water visible in the background. On both the left and right hand sides of the tents are architectural structures. Other architectural structures are visible along the shore line. Mountains fill up the background and Montmorenci Falls is visible in the c. of the image., Robert Waller is listed as being part of the 53rd Regiment of Foot. In 1861 he was an Ensign; 1865 Lieutenant; by 1869 he had been in the service for 11 years. The 53rd Regiment arrived in Canada on August 25, 1866 aboard the H.M.S. Tamar; they travelled into Ontario and returned to Quebec in April 1868. In 1869 they were at Point Levis. The regiment departed Quebec aboard the H.M.S. Himalaya on October 30, 1869., Item is hinged to a secondary support and has a window mat.
