Support 41.000 x mmLanguage of material:LatinScope and content:Médaille commémorant la résistance de Québec pendant le siège de 1690 par la flotte anglaise de Sir William Phipps (1650 ou 1-1694 ou 5) du Massachusetts qui a dû battre en retraite devant les hommes du Comte Louis Buade de Frontenac (1622-1698). La médaille porte à l'avers le buste du roi Louis XIV, gravé par Jean Mauger (1648-1722). Une femme, symbolisant la ville de Québec, est au revers, assise sur un rocher et ayant à ses pieds les pavillons et les étendards aux armes de l'Angleterre. Un castor représentant les habitants du Canada est auprès d'elle. Plus loin, le dieu du fleuve Saint-Laurent est couché près de son urne versante. On peut supposer qu'il comtemple avec admiration la personnification de la ville de Québec victorieuse.
