Locket / case 4.800 x 4.100 cmScope and content:William Pitt Amherst was the brother of Elizabeth Frances Hale and nephew of Sir Jeffery Amherst. The second barony of Amherst devolved on him at his uncle's death in 1797. In 1800 he married Sarah Hickman. He was Governor-General of India, and his appointment as Governor-General of Canada in 1835 was annulled by a change in government.
