The majority of the files relate to the construction of The Seaway (series 15) and to the construction of bridges (series 28). There are also miscellaneous administrative files (series 1 and 31) plus visit and tour files (series 4) relating to the official opening ceremonies of the Seaway. Another small group of files pertain to the Welland Canal. These records were maintained in The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority head office central registry located in Ottawa.
RG52M 72/1411 consists of plans of locks, weirs, terminus facilities, and improvements of other facilities. RG52M 72/5955 consists of plans of the canals, bridges, and drawings of locks. RG52M 767/243 consists of drawings of St. Mary's Falls Canal and Locks, Michigan, made under the direction of Lieut. Col. Godfrey Weitzel, Major F.U. Farquhar and Lieut. Col. O.M. Poe, Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army by W[illiam].C. Sauer. It includes plans of the lock and operating machinery, photographs showing progress of work, and a description of the project. RG52M 80103/42 consists primarily of correspondence concerning contracts, results of test borings, procedures describing excavation work, and notices to contractors. Some technical drawings and blueprints are found interfiled among the contracts.
