The works address sociopolitical issues at the federal and provincial levels (mostly Ontario and Quebec) as well as the municipal level (Ottawa, Gatineau, Hull, etc.).
The topics covered by the artist include: free trade, federal-provincial relations, Canada-US relations, separatism, bilingualism, budgets, elections, Indigeous peoples and scandals. Among the caricatured politicians are Ed Broadbent, Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney, Kim Campbell, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, John Turner, Stephane Dion, Jean Charest, Robert Bourassa, Rene Levesque, Jacques Parizeau, Claude Ryan, Don Mazankowski, Erik Neilsen, Michael Wilson and Bill Davis.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Bado : Guy Badeaux (Bado) was born in Montreal on May 21, 1949. After studying at the Montreal Institute of Applied Arts (1969-1971), the Montreal School of Fine Arts (1971) and the École des beaux-arts in Paris (1972), he moved to Canada and worked as a freelance cartoonist / cartoonist. His works are published in various publications including The Gazette, The Financial Times, The Duty (1975, 1979-1980), Us, Mainmise, The Weekday (1977-1978) and Croc. His cartoons are also featured in numerous publications including Le Monde, International Courier, Commerce, Time, The World Press Review, The Herald Tribune, Maclean's and The Globe and Mail. A first collection of his caricatures was published in the collection All Bado ... Or Almost in 1979. Seven more collections were published over the years, up to Bado 2004 And Even More! in 2004.
Bado has been a cartoonist for the daily newspaper Le Droit in Ottawa since 1981. He is also editor-in-chief of Portfoolio: The Year's Best Canadian Editorial Cartoons since its inception in 1985 and Treasurer of the Canadian Association of Editorial Editors (after serving as President from 1985 to 1989). He is a recipient of the National Business Writing Award for his caricature The Youth of Today ... published in Le Droit on January 7, 1986; winner of the Canadian Journalism Competition in 1991; and 1995 Guinness Record Holder for a drawing on two giant postcards (31 'x 10') that were shipped to peacekeepers stationed in Rwanda and Bosnia and Herzegovina.Source :Privé -
