This section includes seven locks, five of which are in Canada. The Seaway's Engineering Services Branch is also located in Eastern Region, and its primary function is to ensure the integrity and reliability of all locks and canal installations. To do this the branch oversees the civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering requirements in the design, maintenance, and repair of seaway facilities. In addition, the branch is responsible for preparing contract specifications for all structures and facilities in Eastern and Western Region.
