Series includes Rosemary Gilliat's professional work, which is mostly freelance, and was published in magzines such as Beaver, Canadian Geographic, Weekend magazine and Star Weekly. Series also includes correspondences, journals and diaries relating to her travels. excluding Arctic and Western related material (see individual series for respective subjects). Includes assignments from Europe, including : Neuchatel Junior College for Canadian students in Switzerland (1956); Durrell Channel Island Zoo (1961) and an assignment about immigration for the NFB. Also assignments for Seagram's Hudson's Bay Company Whiskey at Norway House and Scotland. Also Ottawa : preparations for 1954 Royal Visit; St. Patrick's Day 1953; National Gallery; A.Y. Jackson painting outside near the War Memorial; Dr. Haycock and A.Y. Jackson on a sketching trip; art & artists Davidson Dunton Guy and Marie Roberge; Robert Hubbard; Alan Jarvis; Ottawa women making hooked & braided rugs; Macoun Club; Camp Fortune; general Ottawa scenes. Quebec : Notre Dame Convent in Sherbrooke (1957); Hugh MacLennan; Jean-Paul Lemieux; Eastern Townships; Isle aux Basques; Charles Morency - Gardien de iles and eider collection; Trios Pistoles; Montreal; Quebec City. Beavers and othe wildlife; Piper Family; St. Lawrence Seaway documentation project (1954) before flooding of communities; Alpine Club (different locations across Canada); scientist Migikovsky. Assignment called "Mother" from 1961-1962 which appeared in Weekend magazine in 1963 and showed a child's view of a very important person (Calgary Allied Arts Center).

Textual records include business cards and memberships; notes and captions for photographs and articles; calendars and journals documenting professional work; manuals for the equipment she used; publications in which her work appeared.

Also includes a scrapbook which includes tear sheets from Weekend magazine and other publications in which her work was published.
