The other photographic items are loose. The photographs depict both Martirano's professional and private activities, include many photographs of Martirano, some with friends and colleagues, including André Morency. The three polaroids are of Guido Nincheri and his wife. Other photographs depict a group from the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal, and the collège Bourget à Rigaud, when he was a student. There are many photographs of stained glass, art work and church interiors, including work done by Nincheri's studio around Québec. Churches include those in Montreal, Chicoutimi, St. Anne de Beaupré and Longue Pointe, as well as in France, Italy and Hammondsport, N.Y. There are also photographs probably used as reference material for his work, including those of biblical figure and models.
The art records were predominantly created by Matthew Martirano. A small number were executed by Guido Nincheri and by Martirano's friend and one-time business partner André Morency (1910- ). The records created and maintained by Martirano comprise several general groups of material. Source material includes: reproductions of church interiors and windows; blueprints; prints of architectural details, patterns, and friezes; designs for church furnishings; and border and frame designs. Material relating to Martirano's service in the army includes two notebooks, created during his training at Longue Pointe, Quebec, towards the end of the Second World War. The notebooks contain drawings and schematics of various ordinances and military devices, manuscript lists of material and supplies required for derricks and landmines, and figure studies of soldiers in military uniform in repose. Working sketches include: decorative church designs, frequently with mss. notations on orientation and colour; religious emblems; drawings of many religious figures, Saints and the Holy Family; figure studies, including nudes and sketches for an interpretation of "Eve"; pastoral landscapes; plant studies and sketches of such decorative elements as acanthus leaves; men's and women's clothing fashion plates; and designs for altars, frescoes, domes and sanctuaries. Oil paintings are primarily studies for church decorations as well as drapery studies, nudes, and the scene for the baptism of Christ.
Works by Guido Nincheri comprise nine drawings of plants and religious scenes and five prints of allegorical and religious figures. Seventy-eight works by André Morency comprise some portraits (including one of Martirano), figures studies and scenes of the Holy Family, stained glass window designs, landscapes, and anatomical studies.Provenance :Information additionnelle :Note générale :Researchers should note that all art items have been individually catalogued and numbered under the old accession number 1998-057.
