Instrument de recherche (Autre) Finding aid 29-143 is comprised of three items. The first is an abbreviated copy of the notes prepared by the archivist during selection. Through a brief description of the major contents of the particular file used as a representative example of the entire block, researchers should obtain an indication of the kinds of records can be found in those blocks. Second is a copy of the list of the institutional codes (noted as CODE in the above description of the highlights of the records) which Medical Services Branch records personnel use to classify material from various regions and institutions/hospitals. Finally, there is a verified file list prepared by the Department for transfer, showing the permanent volume number, file number, part number, the full file title, and the outside dates of the material. -

These records are an extremely rich source of information on the history of Canadian medicine and the development of public health functions. They contain a mixture of policy and background subject material as well as routine program-supporting documents. The age of some of the records is such that the administrative files contain information that might be classified as operational today. These older administrative records contain excellent examples of how the Department of Health administered its oldest functions earlier in the century. This series, spanning the blocks 800 to 860, contains both administrative (800-849) and operational records (850-860). Codes are used to denote records from regional offices, hospitals, clinics, nursing stations, immigration medical offices, and health districts.Information additionnelle :Source du titre :Title based on the contents of the series.Versements complémentaires :Further accruals are expected.Source :GouvernementAncien no de référence archivistique :RG29-62 -
