The files were opened during the period in which Col. John Carson was the Agent for the Minister of Militia and Defence in England, and they contain documents relating to the service of individual soldiers and nursing sisters. Within the file series there is also the occasional file for employees and other civilians interacting with the office, which later became the Overseas Ministry for the Forces of Canada (OMFC).
Files were only opened for those service personnel who were brought to the attention of Col. Carson's office in London. There are approximately 10,000 files in the series.Information additionnelle :Source du titre :Title is based on the contents of the sub-sub-series.Note sur le classement :All records in this file series have a file number beginning with '6' followed by the first letter of the person's name. In addition, each individual was assigned a file number sequentially depending on when their file was opened. An example being 6-B-736 for Corporal B.
