This material is located on microfilm reel M-5226.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Industrial Removal Office : The Industrial Removal Office, immigration and resettlement aid society, was founded and financially supported by the Baron de Hirsch Fund of New York. Its main objective was to disperse the Jewish immigrant population throughout the United States and Canada. The I.R.O. persuaded and assisted thousands of Jewish immigrant workers to leave the major urban centres in the North East and resettle in less populated areas of the country. The I.R.O. operated in Canada in conjunction with Jewish philanthropic organizations such as the Baron de Hirsch Institute and the Hebrew Benevolent Society and the Jewish Colonization Association.
