Fonds consists of a letter from J.P. Winter, Rochester, N.Y., to Dominick Daly, giving information about rebel activities, dated 17 April 1841, 5 pages; and a document signed by Dominick Daly concerning the revision of the Commission of the Peace in Eastern Canada, 1841, 4 pages.

Biographie/Histoire administrative :

Daly, Dominick, Sir, 1798-1868 : Dominick Daly, public servant, was first appointed Provincial Secretary of Lower Canada in 1827. After the union of the Canadas, he continued in this office until 1848. As a member of the Legislative Assembly, Dominick Daly was a member of several ministries. In 1851, he returned to England and held several appointments as Governor of British colonies. He was knighted in 1857.
