Through various Directorates within the Branch, it seeks to encourage Canadians to adopt a healthier lifestyle and attempts to provide leadership and coordination in assisting provinces and territories to upgrade and maintain their health services at national standards. But beyond this, the Branch supports health research and related scientific activities in non-departmental settings like universities and hospitals, monitors provincial health insurance plans, examines health manpower requirements, coordinates federal and provincial working groups on community health case as well as many other activities.
