In addition, it carried out short-term policy research and evaluation of Branch projects.
The records in this accession consist of research grant files funded by the Directorate and relevant to its responsibilities for the prevention of illness, and the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of Canadians' health. The files contain such documentation as weekly summaries of activities performed, paid participant earning records, project financial reports, and final reports. The project topics cover such subjects as non-medical use of drugs, narcotics addiction, health problems in outlying regions, mobility among native people, prevention and health education, and a host of others.
The records in this accession are from specific record blocks. Boxes 1-42 contain files from the 1206, 1208, 1212, 1213, and 1216 record blocks, and all pertain to the non-medical use of drugs (NMUD). Boxes 43-48 contain files with file number primaries in the 4455-4492 range, and all files pertain to family planning. The remainder of boxes in the accession pertain to HASEPS grants [HASEPS = Health Activities Summer Employment Program for Students]. Boxes 49-70 contain records from the 6753 record block, related to health services' HASEPS grants from the year 1977 onwards.
