Approximately 7000 of the photographs deal with the establishment of the boundary between Alaska and Canada, including preliminary surveys of 1893-1896, the final establishment of the Alaska-British Columbia border according to the Alaska Boundary Tribunal award, and the marking of the line along the length of the 141st Meridian from Mount St. Elias to the Arctic Ocean. Some negatives cover exploratory surveys and temporary boundary markings carried out between 1898 and 1900., Most of the rest of the accession consists of photographs taken on the re-survey of the boundary along the 49th parallel from the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. There are also 250 negatives that were taken on assignement on the boundary between Quebec and New York, in Passamaquoddy Bay (Bay of Fundy), and at Lake of the Woods.Note sur la description matérielle :Graphic (photo): 21, 25c, 26a, 26bSource :Gouvernement
