The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Co. was incorporated in 1903 to build from Moncton N.B., to Port Simpson, Bute Inlet or some other port on the Pacific Coast, with branches along the route. The Eastern Division (National Transcontinental Ry. was completed in Nov. 1913. In 1919, the Grand trunk Pacific Ry. Co. Notified the Govt. that owing to low revenues, it could carry on. Its guarantor, the Grand Trunk Ry. Co. of Can. was alos in difficulties and could not carry out the saving acts called for in the 1903 greement. The Govt. took over, and in 1923, the Grand Trunk Ry. Co. and through it the Grand Trunk Pacific Ry. Co. amalgamated with the Canadian National Railway Co., "March 1903".
