Series consists of black and white and colour prints and slides documenting the life and work of cinematographer Roy Tash, from 1920 to 1982. The black and white prints feature Tash, principally during the early stages of his career, while on location for various newsreel productions and film shoots including the 1925 Canadian Government Arctic Expedition, the Marilyn Bell swim across Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River Ice Investigation film shoot, the arrival of Cardinal Villeneuve to Quebec City, filming Snowflake King, and various unidentified shoots in and around Quebec. Also included are prints of Tash's newsreel and film subjects, from the Arctic Inuit to Shimmy Queen Gilda Gray. Additional material includes colour snapshots of Tash with award winning recipients of the Roy Tash News Film Award, Canadian Society of Cinematographers life membership award, and a Toronto Press Club award. Also included in series are photographs depicting various world figures including Lord Bessborough, R.B. Bennett, William Lyon Mackenzie King, King George VI, Charles de Gaulle, Earl of Athlone, and Roy Tompson. In addition are photographs of Roy Tash filming Colonel W.A. Billy Bishop in front of the Marine Museum, Toronto, with journalist John Bassett in background, 1941. Series also includes forty-nine black and white and colour slides of the 1966 C.N.E.
