The Printing Bureau pressroom, 1891. At left, is the battery of two-revolution flatbed-cylinder presses; at right, the Gordon platens. Behind them are several drum-cylinderpresses. The belts were connected by overhead shafts and gears to the steam engine, which powered all the machinery in this room. Photo by George McLaughlin.
