Series consists of art works created primarily by Alma Duncan during her career as an artist and filmmaker, the earliest work dating from 1921 and the latest from 1994. Included is a portrait of Alma Duncan by Ernst Neumann, several self-portraits, as well as portraits of fellow artists and filmmakers, family, and friends; images of industrial scenes done in Montreal during the Second World War; scenes of the Marian Congress; student work, including figure and nude studies; sketches done during trips to the Mediterranean in 1968-9; Japan and China 1970; Mexico 1972-3; Costa Rica 1975; Barbados 1977; the Canadian Arctic in 1975; Austria 1994; as well as drawings done during journeys through the United States and Canada during her career. There are also works done in relation to design projects for the Post Office and for other commercial and private commissions.

A later donation in 2001 added charming sketches of frogs, mock-ups for a Kumak the Sleepy Hunter book and a lay-out for a catalogue of the "Men at Work" exhibition at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery.

Two drawings, acquired in 2003, span the greater part of her career. One drawing, executed in 1943, is of a shell washer working during the Second World War. The second piece, dating 1985, is of a foundry and is a more contemporary industrial site.
