Series consists of records created and/or maintained by Corporate Services and its predecessors. The series includes cancelled lease and license files created and/or maintained by Central Services in Cornwall, Ontario. These files concern the leasing of authority property to individuals and companies while the license files pertain to the granting of licenses for the use of authority facilities and equipment.
St. Lawrence Seaway Authority (Canada). Corporate Services Headquarters : The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority's Central Services were located in Cornwall, Ontario. Among its responsibilities are operational services, personnel services, and financial and administrative services. Now known as Corporate Services, the Cornwall office supports the Authority, staff and line management of the Regions, Branches and subsidiaries by providing leadership, specialized services, analytical skills, expertise, assistance and advice in the technical and management areas of the Seaway organization to respond effectively to the Seaway's business needs and objectives. Corporate Services also provides pro-active leadership and facilitation skills in formulating Authority-wide policies, programs, standards, procedures and guidelines in consultation with the Regions, client groups and users.
Additional duties of Corporate Services include: assisting the Authority and senior management in determining strategic directions for the Company; providing input and leadership in the determination of strategic objectives and helps develop, in consultation with client groups, action plans and tactical strategies to meet objectives; monitoring and responding to external legislation and regulations affecting the Company on an Authority-wide basis. In collaboration with the Regions, Corporate Services effects research and feasibility studies that could have Authority-wide implications, and assists in their implementation.
The Vice-President, Corporate Services is accountable for policies, procedures and practices related to real property, and the management of matters related to real property as described in corporate real property management policy AM\GB-4 (Policy Manual). Counsel is responsible for reviewing legal documents pertaining to leases, licenses, acquisition and disposal of properties, and application of Authority policies is performed uniformly by the regions.
