Public Relations and Information Branch : In addition to the effort of planning and organizing the celebrations for Canada's Centennial it was necessary, if the plans were to achieve maximum success, to encourage the most complete participation possible by all Canadians. The responsibility for arousing the interest of the whole country and enlisting participation in the celebrations for the entire year fell to the Public Relations and Information Branch. Among the methods used by the Branch in this effort was a monthly newsletter to inform the public of programs and projects of the Centennial Commission. In addition the Branch was responsible for arranging and preparing interviews on local and national radio and television, organizing press conferences, acting as liaison with the National Film Board and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and disseminating pamphlets, facts sheets, guidelines, do-it-yourself kits, and other publications prepared by the Commission. The Branch maintained a reference section to keep abreast of all projects - both government and private sector - taking place across Canada. The services of the Branch were also available to members of the National Conference on the Centennial.
