Consists of expenditure control summaries for additions and betterments to various Canadian National, Grand Trunk Pacific, etc. locomotives, box, dining, tourist, combination and other types of train cars at such sites as the Western Region Transcona Shops (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and the Atlantic Region Moncton Shops (New Brunswick). Generated by regional Motive Power & Car Equipment Managers, the summaries contain car number, class of equipment and amounts expended as per approved schedules (e.g. Schedule 38, Authority For Expenditure W.28029 GTP - applying steel underframes to dining cars 1200 to 1205, July, 1928).
Also included is a record of all approved Western Region facility and rail line betterment appropriations for the year 1924. Documented are authorizaton for expenditure (A.F.E.) number, capital and maintenance fund allocations, location by sub-division and project type (e.g. watertank relocation, revision of grades and bunkhouse construction).
