There is also a report by him dated 1890 on Canada as a place to emigrate. This material is located on microfilm reels A-1942 to A-1945.
The fonds also contains two microfilmed journals of Millicent Mary Chaplin née Reeve, a noted amateur painter. The first journal covers the period 14 May 1838 to 6 September 1839 (84 pages) and the second, 4 August 1840 to 20 September 1840 (74 pages). The journals record voyages to Canada and the United States between 1838 and 1840 and contain reflections on rebellion, plants and Indian customs. This material is located on microfilm reel A-1945.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Fane of Fulbeck, d. 1893 : Landed gentry, army officer.
Col. Francis A. Fane was an officer in the British army who served in Canada during the 1850s with the 54th Regiment and returned to Canada in 1864 with the 25th Regiment. In 1890, he visited Canada as a British farmer to report on Canada's merits as a place to emigrate. He married Augusta, daughter of William Fane of Fulbeck Hall, in 1863. He died on 1 Feb. 1893.
Millicent Mary Chaplin, née Reeve, was an amateur painter and the daughter of William Reeve of Leadenham and Millicent Mary King.
