Fonds consists of photographic materials: 1,564 photographs, 1890-1960, relate to the career of Wilbert Henry Norrish; or depict Armstrong Scott, locomotive engineer with Grand Trunk Railway Co.; 412 photographs, 1906-1920, depict Queen's University, Kingston, Ont.; group photographs of Norrish and other students of Queen's University; views of the Kaministiquia Power Co. Plant, Kakabeka Falls, Ont.; activities of Mr. W. H. Norrish with various field parties of the Geodetic Survey of Canada in Quebec, Ontario, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Fonds consists of family correspondence and genealogy, 1922-1967; correspondence, accounts, and survey files relating to his work as a Dominion Land Surveyor, 1919-1930; correspondence, 1939-1948 with people who had served on the Mining Roads Staff, 1936 to 1940; clippings, letters, articles and notes on various aspects of federal mining and industrial policies, 1923-1946; items concerning Ottawa Film Productions Limited, 1922-1923 and Queen's University, 1908-1941.

Fonds also contains miscellaneous maps and plans, 1932-1968, pertaining to Canada, including maps of lakes, rivers and glaciers, topographical maps of Buckingham (Sheet No. 31E NE) and Fort Coulonge, Quebec (Sheet No. 31F NE), dated 1936, at a scale of 1:126,720; plans of the city of Ottawa, dated 1960-1967.

Included in horizontal storage: certificate of appointment as a Dominion Lands Surveyor, 1914, container 2; Bachelor of Science Diploma, University of Queen's College, 1912, container 3; Ontario Land Surveyor certificate, 1915, container 4.

Norrish, Wilbert Henry, 1892-1972 : Wilbert Henry Norrish, land surveyor, held various posts as a land surveyor with the federal departments of the Interior, Mines and Resources and Mines and Technical Surveys, 1925-1962. He conducted surveys in the four western provinces and the Northwest Territories. In 1941 he was assigned administrative duties in connection with exploration for mining and oil projects, and was later head of the Special Projects Division, Department of Mines and Technical Surveys.
