Collection consists of the following: a deed for Lot 201, Thorold Township, Upper Canada, purchased by the trustees of St. John's Church (Presbyterian), dated 7 December 1826, transcript, 1826, 5 pages; plans of Thorold City, and report of findings of the Young Canada Works project, photocopy, 1978, 158 pages; and a microfilmed working file of the Young Canada Works research project supervised by the Geography Department of Brock University, 1978. The working file records the results of findings, a plan for Thorold City, descriptions and photographs of the buildings of Thorold, a record of the land titles search and other information on Thorold. The microfilmed working file of the Young Canada Works project is located on microfilm reel M-1959.
The working file of the Young Canada Works research project, Grant 3112 SK 4, 8 May to 1 September 1978, includes a card catalogue of descriptions and photographs of the buildings of Thorold and the record of the land titles search conducted by the team, retained in Brock University Library. The plans of Thorold City are divided into sections for the purpose of the research project, 1978, volume 2. The report on the findings of the Young Canada Works research project is entitled 'The New City of Thorold: A Study of Its Past and Its Buildings, 1978'. Included are studies of the population and buildings of Thorold, with appendices relating to the original land grants in Thorold Township, 1794; Thorold's institutions, 1820-1978; ministers of various denominations, 1801-1961; industrial activities, 1817-1978; hotels and inns, 1850-1897; streets, 1877-1978.
