2 audio reels (ca. 3 h, 12 min).Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Fonds consists of material acquired during research on the aircraft of World War II, documenting a variety of activities of individuals associated with the Royal Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force. Included are transcripts and letters from E.F. Gault, Harold F. Kerrigan, J.A. Muir, Allan M. Adam, Percy Waddy, W.L. Schroeder, G.A. Doolittle, and W.S. Hopper.
Fonds also consists of photographs of the 1937 Canadian Contingent to London for George VI; dredges, derrick boats, construction barges and tugs, all relating to Foundation Maritime Limited; the Fleet Fawn and Blackburn Shark, two pre-war Canadian built RCAF aircrafts; the 1939 Royal visit to Newfoundland; unidentified aircraft and naval vessels, including those used by R.E. Byrd in the Antarctic; tidal wave disaster, Newfoundland, 1929; and a visit of the governor of Newfoundland; scenes of the crash in which Sir Frederick Grant Banting was killed; views of Cookshire, Que. and Kapudkasing, Ont.; Cornerbrook, Nfld., 1931; Sikorsky amphibian; search for survivors of S.S Viking disaster, 1931 as well as photos of the book entitled "Wooden Walls Among the Ice Floe: Telling the Romance of the Newfoundland Seal Fishery" by W.H. Greene.
