1 map.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Fonds consists of the following series of records: Correspondence and memoranda concerning relations with other organizations (including the old League of Nations Society), policies, publications, membership and canvassing, 1935-1973; Administrative and Policy Committee meetings and seminars, 1948-1984; Branches and clubs, 1946-1986; Educational services, 1959-1975; Finances, including those relating to the old League of Nations Society in Canada, 1937-1979; Membership, 1961-1973; Sales and information correspondence, 1948-1978; Projects, 1961-1982; Photographs which the National Photography collection did not accept, 1950-1964, 20 cm, vol. 36; and records relating to the Habitat Conference, 1971-1977.
Fonds also contains audio recordings, in French and English, of various meetings of the United Nations Association in Canada and two songs, ca. 1968-1977, 1979.
Also included are three photographs which are not part of the Photographs series, depicting Dr. Luis P. Nervo of Mexico and Lester B. Pearson, Peter Trueman, and an aerial view of Ottawa, [ca. 1952].
In addition, fonds contains a United Nations in Canada Pearson Peace medal, 1979; and a road map of Jamacia.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :United Nations Association in Canada : The United Nations Association in Canada was incorporated by Federal Charter in 1946, replacing the League of Nations Society. The aim of the Association is to create a broader and better informed public opinion to support and strengthen the United Nations as an instrument of international co-operation for peace and a better life for mankind. Members in all ten provinces are organized into branches with the central office in Ottawa. The Association publishes a quarterly bulletin and sporadic briefing papers for the media, students and the general public. A catalogue of United Nations and related publications is produced for libraries and other interested institutions and individuals. The Association is funded by the Department of External Affairs, CIDA, corporate finance campaigns and membership fees.
