The album contains photographs that, for the most part, are taken by unknown photographers. There are twenty-three loose commercial prints taken in Egypt by Langaki, Bonfils and Lauro. The Canadian content includes subjects such as Charlottetown, P.E.I; the H.M.S. Royal Alfred in the Halifax Harbour; the Parliament buildings, Chaudiere Falls and the suspension bridge in Ottawa; an ice jam on the St. Lawerence River and the Victorian tubular bridge, at Montreal; Montmorency Falls, near Quebec; two winter landscapes by Alexander Henderson; the International Hotel in Niagara Falls; two views from the Notman series on Cariboo hunting ("a chance shot"); and photographs from Milan and Rome, Italy; the United States, such as Alabama, Florida, Baltimore, and Washington. There are photographs of US Navy gunboats on the Mississippi at Vicksburg and Natchez, as well as the craters outside of Petersburg, Virginia.
Note: There are photographic reproductions of paintings, prints or engravings, which are not included in the number of photographs cited for the album.
