Julien Moulin (1830-1920) was born on July 27, 1830, in La Gouesnière, diocese of Rennes, France. Father Moulin ministered in many missions: Saint-Boniface, Île-à-la-Crosse, Lake Caribou, Fort Carlton, Saint-Laurent de Grandin, Green Lake, Fish Creek, Notre-Dame de Pontmain. He was at Saint-Antoine de Batoche, (Sask.) (1882-1914) during the Métis rebellion (resistance) of 1885. He died in Edmonton on February 25, 1920.
The North-West Rebellion (or North-West Resistance) was a five-month insurgency against the Canadian government, fought mainly by the Métis and their First Nations allies.
