1 print engraving.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Fonds consists of correspondence relating to the Canadian Manufacturers' Association, imperial trade, the general election of 1911 and the fight against reciprocity, the Canadian National Exhibition, Canadian Northern Railway and the Boy Scouts's Association, biographical material on Kerr family; and published material relating to Canadian Manufacturers' Association, 1837-1930.
Fonds also consists of photographs by Pringle and Booth depicting the meeting with W.K. George at the podium and in a carriage, ca. 1900.
Also included is a portrait engraving of Asa T. Alexander. Work was done by Edme Quenedey.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :George, William Kerr, 1861- : William Kerr George, businessman, was born in Kingston in 1861, the son of Rev. James George, D.D., and received his education at the University of Toronto. He began his business career in the North West in 1882 ,and founded standard Silver Co. Ltd. in Toronto, serving as president for many years. He was president of the Canadian Manufacturers' Association from 1904 to 1905; the Canadian National Exhibition Association fromm 1906 to 1908; the Toronto Reform Association from 1908-1911, and was a governor of the University of Toronto. A Liberal, he opposed reciprocity in 1911 and actively supported the Conservatives. He was a commissioner for Ontario in the Boy Scout Movement and was also Knight of Grace of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.Information additionnelle :Note générale :Received in 1979 from Mrs. Patricia E.
