The series consists of personal or biographical material relating to Peter Worthington, and records created or kept by his parents, Major-General F. F. Worthington and Clara "Larry" Worthington. Worthington and his mother both wrote about his father's military career and much of the documentation was kept for that reason. It includes speeches and writings by General Worthington ("Father of the Canadian Armoured Corps") on military matters, clippings of articles about him and by him, tributes and honours, obituaries, and records and photographs of his interment at CFB Borden. His account of his nine years as Canada's Civil Defence Co-ordinator in the Cold War era is also a notable document. The Larry Worthington material includes reviews of Worthy: A Biography of Major-General F. F. Worthington (Toronto: Macmillan, 1961) and records relating to her history of the Canadian Corps in the First World War, Amid the Guns Below (Toronto: McClelland and Stewart, 1965). The latter includes correspondence with General Raymond Brutinel, Commander of the Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade in the First World War, and his comments and corrections on her manuscript. The series also holds 28 letters from General Worthington to her during the war, mostly when he was overseas in 1941-1942. Peter Worthington's letters to his parents from Russia, 1965-1966, complement the Toronto Telegram files of the Moscow Bureau. In addition to the family photographs of the Worthingtons, there are three signed Karsh prints of Governor Generals, the Earl of Athlone, and Field Marshall Alexander of Tunis and Lady Alexander.
