Fonds consists of the accumulated public and private papers of Abraham Lincoln. This material is located on microfilm reels M-371 to M-464, M-5894 to M-5898.

Microfilm reel M-371 contains a list of correlating volumes and mounting sheet numbers as well as an explanation of the procedures used in arranging and cataloguing the collection.

Lincoln, Abraham, 1809-1865 : Abraham Lincoln was President of the United States from 1860-1865. He was admitted to the bar in 1836, and served four terms in the state legislature. He represented Illinois as a Whig in Congress in 1849. He ran for the U.S. Senate in 1858, and lost to Stephen Douglas. As a republican, he was elected President in 1860, and continued in office throughout the American Civil War. A week after the surrender of the Confederate Army, Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth.
