Series documents the various professional experiences related to Dr. Robert Jackson's medical career as a physician and orthopaedic surgeon, both in the fields of medicine and surgery, as well as professional sports. Textual documents in the series consist of his personal medical notebooks (including Dr. Jackson's first ever scope notes on record of an arthroscopic examination), copies of interviews, operation diagrams, and various reports written by Dr. Jackson. Many of these experiences are related to his various professional appointments working at medical institutions such as Baylor University Medical Center, the Centre for Sport and Recreation Medicine, Toronto Western Hospital, and the Orthopaedic and Arthritic Hospital, while also including professional sports teams such as the Toronto Argonauts and the Toronto Blizzard Soccer Club. Also included are photographs that illustrate Dr. Jackson in these medical environments, with many examples of him performing surgery (e.g. his ground-breaking arthroscopic procedure on the famous race horse Beau Brummell), his presence at various hospitals around the world and with other known physicians and surgeons (e.g. Dr. Masaki Watanabe), his numerous professional trips around the world, and medical scans of different types of injuries. Several objects in the form of medals, a plaque and a pin document recognize his many contributions in the field of arthroscopy are also part of the series. There is also footage of Dr. Jackson performing various surgeries, news reports covering his activities (e.g. The Centre for Sport and Recreation Medicine), and his commentary on the nature of sports injuries of Toronto Argonauts football players and their recovery.
