Joey dreams of being a professional hockey player, but is terrible at skating. He hopes to get a pair of new skates that will make him a better skater. Instead, he gets a pair of second hand pair a store clerk, Nick, claims are magical, capable of granting him three hockey wishes if he believes enough in them. He tries wishing on the skates to be a better player and finds himself getting better with every practice. When his older brother, Zack's, team have to face off against Crunch, the local bully, and his friends in a game of hockey at their local park, Joey makes another wish, this time to be able to play like the older kids, but Crunch plays to roughly and Zack, Joey and Zack's friends back out of the game. Joey still does well, but feels guilty about using his wishes to cheat. He confesses to his brother, who tells him to be careful using his last wish. When they get home, the brothers learn that Rocky St. Jean will be presenting the hockey trophy for Zack's league. Joey considers wishing on his skates to meet Rocky, whom he idolizes, but his older brother warns him not to. Zack does very well as goalie in the final game for his league, but sprains his ankle and is forced off the ice when Crunch crashes into him. Joey dresses up as Zack and manages to lead the team to victory, making the final goal. Zack goes out to accept the trophy but tells Rocky what happened and Joey gets to meet Rocky as well. Joey gets the Rocky Rockets for Christmas and go goes back to the store to return the magical skates. He asks for Nick but the clerk claims no Nick has ever worked at the store. As he is about to leave, he sees Chloe, a girl from the park, and gives her the skates. As he leaves the store, the Santa Clause figurine waves and wishes him good luck. <22 mn 24s>
