Brotherhood of Railway Carmen : The Brotherhood of Railway Carmen (BRC) was a union that represented workers in the railway industry. The union was established in the United States in 1890 with Canadian lodges formed soon afterwards. The BRC represented carpenters, upholsterers, pattern makers, cabinetmakers and others involved in the inspection, maintenance and repair of railway cars. In 1984, the Canadian Division of the BRC gained independence from the US-based parent.

The Brotherhood of Railway Carmen merged into the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) on 29 May 1990. In 2013, the CAW merged with the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union (CEP) to form Unifor.
