This accession consists of photographs created to document the operations of CFB Cornwallis, Nova Scotia. Before the unification of the Canadian Forces in 1968, this naval training facility was designated HMCS Cornwallis. Subjects depicted include training of naval personnel, University Naval Training Division (UNTD) activities, general Canadian Forces recruit training, Canadian Forces Recruit School (CFRS) activities, training exercises, naval vessels and air equipment. Other photographs depict recruit social activities, VIP visits, and ceremonies.

Before the unification of the Canadian Armed Forces, the CS prefix was reserved for photos documenting the HMCS Cape Scott.
