The records in this accession consist of index cards of legal claims which were made against the Canadian government. The bulk of these claims resulted from accidents involving motor vehicles owned by the RCAF. However, a significant minority of these claims were for compensation for inventions of ordinance and equipment sold to the RCAF. Other claims were for the purchase of surplus RCAF buildings and equipment. Claims were recorded on individual index cards which indicate the date and nature of the claim, and identify military personnel and civilians involved. The cards are filed alphabetically by the surname of the person bringing claims against the Crown. The finding aid consists of a list of the first and last family names contained in each box.

These records were transfered to the National Archives directly from the Department of National Defence.
