This is a preliminary description, please consult the linked accessions. Series consists of records created and/or maintained by the Director of Investigation and Research.

Volume 211 consists of the sugar import case file, for which the Director of Investigation and Research appeared before the Anti-dumping Tribunal.

Volume 212 consists of advisory opinions from the Director of Investigation and Research concerning different mergers case involving foreign companies. Those opinions were requested by the Foreign Investment Review Agency (FIRA).

Volume 218 is a signed transcript ("Third Volume", pages 895-1363) of a preliminary magistrate hearing (page 1352) in May of 1930 which includes frequent references to the A[malgamated] B[uilders] C[ouncil]. The most important case dealt with under the [Combines Investigation] Act during the fiscal year ending in 1930 was that of the Amalgamated Builders Council and other related organizations in the plumbing and heating industry. The volume refers to plumbing and also makes reference to the Master Plumbing case (1905). In R. v. Master Plumbers and Steam Fitters Co-operative, two trade associations in the plumbing industry were accused of conspiracy under section 520 of the Criminal Code. This case predated the Combines Investigations Act but was a landmark decision which led to the promulgation of the this act.
