Legal Services is an independent branch that provides legal advice and aid to the Department. While the support staff are employees of Labour Canada, the manager and legal staff are hired by the Department of Justice, which is responsible for providing in-house legal services to all federal departments and agencies. The main function of this branch is to provide the Department with legal advice in the areas of policy, legislation and other issues relating to Labour Canada's activities.
