Description :

Machinery Evaluation in Saskatchewan is a film presented by the Agricultural Machinery Administration, produced by the Government of Saskatchewan in 1971. This Crawley Films title documents the inspection and testing of various agriculture tools of the time, including a 50 chisel McCormick international harvester and a Versatile combine harvester. These mighty tools although primitive by modern standards set the bar high for the Canadian agricultural machinery production of tractors and farm equipment of the time. Essential in the quickly expanding agricultural industry of the prairies the switch from low to high yield equipment such as this was key for farmers to insure the success of their business. Shot in Regina technicians were sent from the Agricultural Machinery Administration to educate and demonstrate some of these new tools as well as test, inspect and evaluate their operation alongside the farmers, putting the tractors through their paces in the field

1.This original black and white negative has been quite poorly handled and remains in pretty rough shape. Although cut into A&B rolls most splices are hot spliced picture to picture leaving each frame where there is a splice quite damaged, often with taped reinforcement, so prints or a scan from this material would need a bit of work in post to reduce the damage caused by this mishandling.
