Notice descriptive – Détails Fonds/collection :CANADA. NATIONAL PRESS THEATRENo d'acquisition :1981-0133Support :Enregistrement sonorePartie :1 of 1Date de production :1981-11-18Description :Press conference held by Chief Gary Potts of the Bear Island Tribe of Northern Ontario, Louis Smokey Bruyère of the Native Council of Canada, Jane Gottfriedson of the Native Women's Association of Canada, and George Erasmus of the Dene Nation. In an opening statement, Potts protests the withdrawal of Clause 34 in the Constitution Act 1981, and insists that a sentence be added stating that aboriginal and treaty rights would not be affected without the consent of the indigenous people. He cites and incident which he claims illustrates the lack of concern for aboriginal rights on the part of the Ontario government, and specifically the Attorney General of Ontario, Roy McMurtry. A question period follows in which questions are fielded from assembled journalists. <45mn>Langue :English / FrançaisRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
