The series testifies of a turning point of the recent Canadian social history.
Files describe well the situation of the women at the beginning of decade 1980 and demonstrate clearly the situation of the Canadian women in different spheres of activity, but also the efforts which are deployed to improve their condition. For example, files concerning the meetings with various personnalities are particularly interesting because we can see clearly the political negotiations which ensued from demands and the gains which allowed to improve the condition of the women in Canada.

In brief, these some files to allow to inform the history of the Canadian women under a new angle, in particular, the political aspect which accompanied the women's movement.

This series consists of subjects files created by Chaviva Hosek, president of National Action Committee one the Status of Women. These files contain some received and sent correspondence, notes of telephone, diversified reference documents, handwritten notes, and other.

Conservation :

The records of this series are in excellent general condition, and robust measures were taken to preserve them: all metal pieces were removed, newspaper clippings were removed and replaced with photocopies, records in a fragile state of preservation were also photocopied, etc. Lastly, records were removed from their original folders and placed in acid-free folders.
