MOMMY MOMMY is a documentary film that deals with issues surrounding homosexual adoptions. The film follows two women, Linda and Mona, over a period of more than four years as they go through trials and tribulations associated with adopting a baby as a lesbian couple living in Québec. Even though Québec is one of the few regions in the world to have legalized both homosexual marriage and adoptions by same sex couples, the road to parenthood still contains major obstacles. MOMMY MOMMY opens a window into the two women's lives and those of their extended families and friends, depicting the drama and excitements of the couple's quest to legally adopt a child. Linda and Mona's journey becomes a long emotional rollercoaster ride where the couple gets faced with the obstacles to the access to IVF, and laws against homosexual couples adopting from foreign countries such as, for instance, China and Haiti. After finding a birth mother in the United States of America who is open to the idea of same-sex adoptions, Linda and Mona are confronted with a devastating barrier set up by the Christian-based adoption agency and the Québec government itself. The two women are not individuals who give up easily, and their dream finally comes true in the most unanticipated way - they get a great opportunity to adopt a little aboriginal baby boy right from their own "backyard" - Canada.
