This file contains documents concerning the involvement of Gordon Robertson in the Canadian Rhodes Scholarship and Exeter College. Robertson was the first Rhodes Scholar of Saskatchewan to be sent to the Exeter College at Oxford University. In 1983, he received an honorary degree from the Exeter College and the College named a room in honor of Saskatchewan scholars. This file consists in correspondence concerning the Rhodes Foundation, news from the Exeter College, documents concerning th nomination of Gordon Robertson for an Honorary degree in 1983, his trip to Oxford to receive the prize and some published documents on the Exeter College and the Rhodes Foundation.The Rhodes Scholarship is the world's oldest and arguably most prestigious international fellowship. The scholarships were initiated after the death of Cecil John Rhodes and have been awarded to applicants annually since 1902 by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford on the basis of academic qualities, as well as those of character. They provide the successful candidate with two years of study at the University of Oxford in England, possibly extended for a third year.
