A short travelogue depicting a trip from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Film begins with extreme long shots of Winnipeg's urban-industrial areas of Notre Dame Ave West and Main Street (North and South). A day's journey away from "the busy middle-west metropolis" is wooded grassland where a collection of buffalo, elk, and moose are all protected by the Dominion Government at Wainwright, Alberta. The first stop is Jasper National Park, where the Raven Totem Pole greets tourists at the train station nestled in the Rocky Mountains overlooking the Athabasca Valley. Activities of members of the Imperial Press Conference at Jasper National Park. Ponies are procured and the journey begins with a first stop at Pyramid Lake and Mountain. Twenty miles down the old Athabasca Trail is Mount Hardisty, which overlooks the Athabasca River and its Falls. A slow panoramic shot of another mountain reveals itself as Mount Edith Cavell, named in honour of the heroism of a British nurse. Across the interprovincial boundary is Lucerne, British Columbia, which is set on a marge of a lake at the base of Yellowhead Mountain. Boarding a train at Lucerne takes the traveler to Mount Robson, "the Monarch of the Rockies" with its great tumbling glacier hanging above Berg Lake. Beyond Mount Robson is a river that snakes through Bulkley Canyon past Bulkley Gate. The railway passes close to the shores of Skeena River, "one of the world's greatest salmon streams". A quick glimpse of the salmon canneries shows male workers shucking salmon onto the deck and some Asian women drying the nets. The train finally docks at Prince Rupert, "the city carved out of the mountain-side". Having reached the Pacific, the tourist can now decide whether to take the "great oil-burning vessels of the Grand Trunk Pacific" southward to Vancouver, Victoria, and Seattle, or northward to Alaska. <8min 13s>
