Green Lake is a village in Saskatchewan. Its residents are predominantly Métis. Green Lake dates from 1782, when the North West Company established a wintering post. They established a permanent post in 1793. In 1810 the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) established itself on Green Lake. With the signing of Treaty 6 in 1876, settlers began moving into the area. Aboriginal residents of the area were allowed to join Treaty 6, or to take scrip. During the North-West Rebellion (Northwest Resistance) the HBC store in Green Lake was raided by Cree from Frog Lake.
